My History With Luigi

It all started when I was 7. My Uncle and Aunt gifted me a ‘New Nintendo 2DS XL’ and the games Sonic Generations and Mario Kart 7. Gradually, I started to spend most of my time on the console playing the latter, and I soon developed a love for the characters. Some of the designs really stood out to me, specifically Bob-omb and Luigi. I played this game to death (partially due to the fact that I was bad at Sonic Generations) and was pretty good at it! Then, I got my original Nintendo Switch. Now, I can’t remember exactly when I got the console, but I know that I played it during 2020. Why? Well my grandparents got me Super Mario Maker 2, and that exploded my creativity. And inside that game is an online mode where you could attempt to beat a Mario level either together as a team, or a ‘first to the finish wins’ type game mode. I preferred the ‘first to the finish wins’ mode. And in each game, I always hoped I was Luigi, since I thought he was the best character. And when I realized I was wrong, I used to pretend Luigi was the best by just losing on purpose if I was any other character. After my 300 hours of Super Mario Maker 2, I happened to get the game Super Mario Party. Again, I really stuck to my Luigi escapades, and again in Mario Tennis Aces, and then in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, so on and so forth. But when I started to really play the World Of Light (In Super Smash Bros Ultimate), I slowly realized, “... wait, I kind of suck at Luigi. What if I try other people?” - Ant 2022. Then I started to main Kirby, and that started a snowball effect. I slowly realized that limiting myself to one character forever kind of made newer games… stale. What was the point of a new roster of different characters in a game, if I would only choose one character? So, nowadays, I don’t really have one "permanent main” like how I was with Luigi.

BUT, before I end this, I’d like to shout out my favorite instance of Luigi in a game. My current favorite is Luigi from Mario & Luigi Brothership. This version of Luigi is very cartoony.
